La Roux is 20-year-old Elly Jackson and her synth-playing partner Ben Langmaid; and together they are the avant-garde pop-sensation of now by a country mile. Formerly known as Automan, the duo first worked together on acoustic tracks, before ditching the guitars and plugging in the synths. Langmaid is a veteran of 90s house act HUff And Puff, which saw him team up with Faithless producer Rollo Armstrong, while Jackson is keen on classic synth pop such as The Human League and the Eurythmics. Named after the French phrase for "red haired one", the band are managed by the same team that handles the Klaxons, which secured them a place on the uber-cool compilation 'Kitsune Maison 6' and a slot on the Lily Allen tour in March 2009, important first steps in their evolution to bona-fide stardom. Named as "ones-to-watch" by the media as 2008 drew to a close, they've exceeded everyone's expectations to already become one of the biggest draws in British music. An honourable mention must go to Skream for his stirling remix work too, but "In for the Kill" has to be the hum-a-long anthem of the year - and is surely just the stepping-stone to a many more infectious, credible pop-anthems.

Zane Lowe, known by his mates as Zipper, is fast becoming a British Radio Institution, despite being a Kiwi! His weeknight show is 'the' one that every credible act in the country is desperate to appear on, whether hip-hop or metal, electro or punk, drum'n'bass or dance. He displays an admirable commitment to breaking the best of British talent, and knows his onions inside out. His wide-ranging passion for music (and cheeky charm) is reflected in his DJ sets, and as such is one of the most in-demand DJs on the whole BBC Radio roster.

Since first storming onto the scene last year, autoKratz have swiftly established a reputation for their distinctly different releases which harbour infectious bass hooks, addictive vocals and compulsive beats & bleeps. Their recent LP ‚'Animal' however does much more, as the duo explore their songwriting craft further to create an extremely innovative record. The band have so far received immense support from across the board, finding spots on the playlists of Pete Tong, Annie Mac and Steve Lamacq, whilst receiving club support from the likes of Tiga, Erol Alkan and Brodinski. They've further cemented their place on the circuit by creating a live show that has left the plaudits in raptures. Find out what all the fuss is about.

Burns is quite the the flavour of the month as far as remixers go, having recently been called up by musical luminaries Calvin Harris, Gossip, Yuksek, Filthy Dukes, Empire of the Sun and more for his dynamic, gritty take on their sound. With no set formula, sound or style, Burns' magic dust is a keen ear and an ability to turn everything up to "11". Getting serious airplay from the likes of Annie Mac and Zane Lowe, and with a debut album pencilled in for early 2010, expect to hear a great deal from this precociously talented 23-year old.
