Needing no introduction, pop superstar Kelis will be appearing live on stage for an extremely rare club performance. Her new album Flesh Tone, including smash hit single Acapella, sees her take inspiration from the contemporary house and electro scenes, collaborating with the likes of David Guetta and Boys Noize. Joining her on the night will be Calvin Harris, another widely renowned artist who has balanced musical credibility with chart success. His recent number one album Ready For The Weekend was an example of his seamless ability to blend pop songs with anthemic dance productions. His DJ sets around Europe and essential mix for Radio 1 are proof that he understands the dancefloor as comprehensively as he does the studio.

Starsmith is the young producer of breakout artist Ellie Goulding’s two biggest tracks, Under The Sheets and Starry Eyed.  Recently working with Kylie Minogue in the studio, his own productions and remixes for the likes of Little Boots, Passion Pit and Marina and the Diamonds have marked him as one to watch.

  • Kelis’ debut 1999 album Kaleidoscope, produced by the Neptunes, marked her out as a unique and original talent, with its fresh and imaginative reworking of pop and r’n’b templates. Over the next decade her singles such as Milkshake, Trick Me and Millionaire with Andre 3000 cemented her standing as a worldwide pop star, as did her high profile marriage to rapper Nas and her bold sense of style. She has been nominated for two Grammy awards, released five critically acclaimed albums, collaborated with artists such as Björk, Basement Jaxx and Moby and sold over six million records worldwide.

    Her new album, Flesh Tone, released in May this year, saw a marked change in her musical direction, combining her unique vocal style with electro and house productions. Collaborators on the album include David Guetta (who produced the huge hit Acapella), Diplo, Switch, Boys Noize and many other high profile producers.

  • Appearing seemingly out of nowhere with his instant classic Acceptable In The 80s, Scotland’s Calvin Harris quickly established himself as one of the top dance producers in the UK, as well as one of the most colourful and outspoken characters on the scene. Tracks such as The Girls and Colours from his debut album I Created Disco displayed his love of catchy melodies and his disco, house and electro influences. His sophomore effort Ready For The Weekend showcased a bigger and more contemporary sound, perfectly suited to his many summer festival appearances such as Parklife and Creamfields, with lead single I’m Not Alone reaching number one.

    As well as his own albums he has produced music for artists such as Roisin Murphy, Kylie Minogue, The Ting Tings and Dizzee Rascal, whom he worked with for the number one singles Holiday and Dance Wiv Me. His eclectic essential mix for Radio 1 is a perfect example of his wide taste in various genres and is considered a classic of the series.

  • London producer Finlay Dow-Smith, known as Starsmith, first started to turn heads with his tracks for Ellie Goulding, most notably her debut singles Under The Sheets and Starry Eyes. Since then he has worked on remixes for the likes of Katy Perry, Little Boots, Passion Pit, Frankmusik and many others, with his and Ellie Goulding’s reworking of Passion Pit’s Sleepyhead gathering a huge online buzz. Currently in the studio working with Kylie Minogue and on his own solo procuctions, Starsmith is also steadily building a reputation as one of the capital’s top DJs.

  • In less than a year, Juicy have quickly established themselves as the top Hip Hop night in Manchester. They have  opened for the Wu Tang Clan on their recent UK tour dates, as well as hosting the DMC championships, and played alongside DJs such as DJ Yoda, The Scratch Perverts, Tim Westwood and many others. Their weekly parties at Subspace and mixtapes are known for their  house party style, mixing old school hip hop, classic 90’s rap and modern club anthems.

  • In the short space of two years Manchester’s Now Wave have graduated from putting on up and coming bands at the Deaf Institute to bringing huge international acts such as Flying Lotus, Battles, Doom, The xx, Four Tet and Chris Cunningham to Manchester for some of the most thrilling and groundbreaking shows the city has seen in a long time. Their weekly club night adheres strictly to their motto “give the past a slip”, playing only the best new music from the last two years.

  • In 2004, Will Dunn and a group of friends started their own night Tramp!, bored with the monotony of the Mancunian club scene. Taking place in the bizarre surroundings of the now defunct Bierkeller, with a musical policy of anything goes, they quickly gained a reputation as one of the best parties in Manchester, packing in the crowds week in week out. They bought in guests as diverse as Justice, The Presets, Chromeo, Spank Rock and many more to Manchester, with Will gaining a reputation as one of the most daring, eclectic and passionate DJs in the city. Tramp! bowed out gracefully a few years ago, but Will continues to DJ around Manchester as Bugged Out! and Homelectric resident amongst many other places.
